Added by Banjo ozA Dory is long wooden spear of Ancient Greek origin. The name means "wood" or "spear".
A Dory typically measures two to three meters long (six to ten feet), with a diameter of two inches, weighing between one and two kilograms (2-4 lbs). The iron spearhead is of a flat, leaf-shape design, while the opposite end is commonly fitted with a bronze spike.

The Dory was the primary weapon of the Greek hoplites.
In the Roman arena, the gladiator class Hoplomachus used the Dory as their primary weapon.
