Euclid is a slave who serves as cook for the gladiators at Batiatus' Ludus and later for the Rebels.

Character Outline

Euclid is a man of a slim build with long wavy brown hair, rugged facial hair, and a missing left arm. His missing limb suggests he may have lost it as a gladiator or to injury, but this is never confirmed.

Gods of the Arena

Euclid serves as the cook for the gladiators in The House of Batiatus. 

When the gladiators are spurred into a brawl, Euclid cheers the gladiators and enjoys watching them fight.

Blood and Sand

As cook, Euclid makes and serves meals for the gladiators in the dining area of the training square of the ludus. He is often seen in the background being harassed by Crixus and his men.

"Eat it!", Euclid tells Varro.

It is not known if he was complicit in the practice of hazing recruits by tainting their food with the senior gladiators like Barca, or simply unaware of it.

When the gladiators revolt and begin to slaughter the Romans in the ludus, guards and citizens alike, Euclid does not participate. After Spartacus announces that they will leave to claim vengeance on Rome, Euclid goes with them and leaves the ludus.

Vengeance

He is among the rebels and slaves that escaped following Spartacus' revolt, and is seen several times in the background when the rebels are training or when Spartacus is addressing the assembled army.

After Agron leaves the group to enter Vesuvius, Euclid is among many of Spartacus' group to follow in Agron's wake.

When at the Vesuvius Temple, Euclid and the other house slaves are given combat training by Donar, and can be seen training and socializing with Rabanus and Leviticus.

Euclid is evidently a decent enough cook that he continues to help in preparing meals for the rebels, despite the presence of other freed house slaves from other villas. 

When the forces of Varinius and Glaber assault the temple, Euclid manages to escape with the other rebels to the top of Mount Vesuvius.

Spartacus eventually develops a counter-attack strategy against Glaber and his forces. It is unknown if Euclid takes part in the assault but following the rebel victory he continues on within the rebellion as they go on to bring a true war on Rome.

War of the Damned

Euclid remains in the background of the Rebels and functions more of a camp follower rather than a combatant. He, presumably, continues to act as a cook among the rebels.

Euclid joins the Rebels within the city of Sinuessa and remains there until the forces of Marcus Licinius Crassus manage to take the city, forcing Euclid to flee with the other Rebels to the cold mountains.

When a harsh storm hits the Rebel camp, many fall to its cold winds, but Euclid manages to survive and following the successful assault on Crassus' wall, Euclid leaves the mountains with the Rebels.

Eventually, Spartacus and Crixus decide to take separate paths. Being a non-combatant, Euclid takes leave with Spartacus in order to cross over the Alps and embrace true freedom.

Following the defeat of Crixus and his army, Spartacus captures Tiberius, the son of Crassus, and decides to host Tribute Games to honor Crixus. Euclid watches from the makeshift stands and cheers on the rebels as they don the role as gladiators against the Roman captures. He then watches as the rebels pay homage to Crixus following these games and pays respect by cheering the fallen Gaul's name.

When the final battle is about to commence, Euclid stays behind to help those escaping over the Alps and finally embrace true freedom with his remaining comrades.

Trivia

• Euclid is one of the few background characters to have appeared in all three seasons and the prequel.
• Euclid and Lysandros are some of the only surviving named slaves from the House of Batiatus who aren't gladiators.
