When Spartacus begins the rebellion, Mannus takes part in the massacre at the ludus, slaying Roman guards and nobles alike, and follows Spartacus in escaping to take their revenge on Rome..

Vengeance[]

Mannus, alongside many other gladiators, would escape with Spartacus following his revolt.

Mannus has aligned himself as part of the Gauls under the command of Crixus, though also acknowledges Spartacus as a leader as well.

When the Rebels leave the sewers of Capua, Plenus helps the others take control of a villa, freeing the slaves there. He would take part in celebrating with his fellows after tensions cooled.

Manplendeath

Ashur kills Mannus and Plenus.

After Agron leaves the group to enter Vesuvius, Mannus remains as one of the few gladiators who decided to accompany Spartacus and Crixus to the mines to rescue Naevia. After the initial guards were dispatched, he and fellow escaped gladiator Plenus donned their uniforms, remaining at their posts while the other rebels entered the mines, in order to dissuade suspicion.

Eventually, the forces of Gaius Claudius Glaber arrive, led by the Tribune Marcus and Ashur. Marcus questions Mannus if there has been any attempt to breach the mines, but Mannus replies that there hasn't been any. Ashur, however, recognizes the two and quickly dispatches the two of them. To prove this to Marcus, Ashur has him check Mannus' forearm and discovers his Mark of the Brotherhood, thus proving him correct.

Trivia[]

  • According to Tacitus, Mannus, who was fathered by the God Tuisto, the son of Tiwaz, was the name of the first human male in Germanic mythology.

Quotes[]

Marcus: "You! We come on order of Praetor Gaius Claudius Glaber. Any attempt to breach the mines?"
Manus: "No, it stands secure."
