Timocles is a former slave turned rebel under Spartacus' command.
Character Outline[]
Timocles is an escaped slave that has joined Spartacus' rebellion at some point between the rebel defeat of Glaber and the entrance of Crassus into the conflict. He is of medium build, with a tanned skin tone, and with black curly hair. His name coupled with his appearance makes it likely that he is originally of Greek origin. He is seen at various times armed with a sword, spear, and bow. Though his history as a slave is unknown, it appears that he suffered greatly at the hands of the Romans as evidenced by the vicious screams he is often seen unleashing upon them.
War of the Damned[]
Timocles fights in the opening battle against Cossinius among the contingent of rebels that are led by Agron.

Romans and celebrates the victory with his comrades. He is later seen in the rebel camp encouraging his fellow rebels during their combat training. When the Rebels beseige Sinuessa, Timocles fights ferociously alongside his fellow rebels. He later appears as part of the group of rebels attempting to storm the granary and is standing very near to Spartacus when Spartacus spears Ennius through the mouth.
Timocles easily bested by Gannicus.
While encamped within the city, Timocles participates in the regular activities of occupation soldiers, such as standing on patrol and guarding prisoners. Following Gannicus' sparring match with Caesar, Gannicus chooses to spar with Timocles, who is easily bested by the "God of the Arena". When Spartacus enters a brothel to speak to Heracleo, Timocles is seen with Lydon laughing and encouraging Ortius as he has sex with one of the prostitutes there.
Later, he bears close witness to the straining tensions between the rebel leadership when Gannicus confronts Naevia about the truth concerning Attius' involvement with the Roman captives. The fight between Gannicus and Crixus occurs in full view in front of him. When Crixus arouses the rebel

army to fury and commands them to kill the remaining Romans in the city, Timocles joins in. During the massacre he is seen screaming and stomping on the body of a dead Roman and roaming through the streets accompanied by Lydon.
Soon thereafter the Romans invade the city leading Timocles and the other rebels to go on the defensive. He along with the others are forced to abandon the city and retreat to the cold mountains. Timocles survives in the snowy mountains and escapes through Crassus' wall.
When Spartacus and Crixus eventually decide to take separate paths,
Timocles shouts at Tiberius.
Timocles chooses to stay with Spartacus on the path to freedom as opposed to joining Crixus on the war path toward Rome. As Tiberius is being led out to his fight with Naevia during the funeral games in Crixus' honor, Timocles hurls a violent insult in the direction of Tiberius. Later, when Tiberius is being exchanged and during the subsequent chaos following his murder by Kore,

Timocles is seen policing the other rebels, holding them back from engaging Tiberius or Caesar.
In the final battle, Timocles wears a spiked helmet and takes his place in the battle line directly behind Naevia. He is last seen firing his bow into the faces of the Romans when they are stopped cold by the stake pit. Around the time when the battle comes to an end, Timocles manages to escape the battlefield and join the rest of the survivors in escaping over the Alps, finally embracing true freedom.

- The name "Timocles" was inspired by Manu Bennett as a play on words on the actor's name: Tim Eccles.
- Timocles is also the name of an ancient Greek comedic poet who came from Athens.
- Timocles is one of the only surviving non-gladiator rebel fighters next to Lysandros, Adal, and Nasir.
- Actor Tim Eccles confirmed that his character survives the final battle and escapes the battlefield to into the Alps.
