Although I enjoyed the first season and I also enjoyed "Gods of the Arena", I now find this season to be completely stupid and unbelievable.
In real life, Spartacus had over 50,000 slaves and other people with him in his army. In the show he has about 30.
Oneomaeus and Crixus were both Gauls. The show doesn't mention that at all.
Glaber had 3000 local militia under his command, not Roman Soldiers. After Spartacus kicked his ass, more slaves showed up to join his cause, and then he had 70,000 troops. The show makes it look like 100 soldiers are hunting down 40 rebel slaves.
The nonsense about them burning down the arena is so laughable I couldn't even watch it. The are supposedly going to sneak in through the *SEWER* and no one will notice a bunch of nasty stinky slaves who have been crawing through liquid shit and human guts wandering around?
And then they make a sneak attack on Glaber in the town square? That is just equally as stupid.
Oh, another funny thing is Illithia is supposedly left alone in the forest, miles from home when Spartacus releases her. How the hell did she get home? She walked? How did she know which direction to walk? Oh and did you notice how awesome and perfect her makeup and mascara was when she woke up after collapsing right after she returned home?
And how did she get inside the ludus, weren't there any guards surrounding the house? She just staggered right in? I would think that after two or three attempts on Glabers life, that ludus would have been one of the most heavily guarded places in the world. I guess all of the guards were down at the whorehouse. Unfortunately I don't think there will be another season of this. Seemingly aimed at the same crowd who used to watch Xena Warrior Princess, 13 year old boys I guess. They are the only ones who would find this watchable.
